A Statistic Study on 1,277 Cases of Gastrofiberscopy

Abstract
|
|
|
Some clinical data obtained from 1,277 cases of Gastrofiberscopy done during the period from Nov, 1982 to Oct, 1983 at the Department of I. M. Soonchunhyang GumiHospital were as follows.
1. Of the total 1, 277 cases, 743(58.2%) cases were male and 534(41.8%) cases were female. 41:4% of the cases were the 3rd decade and 4th, 5ht decade in order.
2. The distribution of upper GI diseases was gastritis 601(44.7%) cases, duodenal ulcer 187(13.9%) cases, gastric ulcer 140(10.4%) cases and gastric cancer 31(2.3%) cases in order.
3. Of the 601 patient´s with gastritis, 333(55.4%) cases were male and 268(44.6%) cases were female. The peak incidence of gastritis was 3rd decade. The most frequent type of gastritis was superficial gastritis, 338(56.2%) cases.
4. Of the 187 cases of duodenal ulcer, 153(81.8%) cases were male and 34(18.2%) cases were female. The peak incidence of duodenal ulcer was 3rd decade 73(39.0%) cases.
5. Of the 140 cases of gastric ulcer, 112(80.0%) cases were male and 28(20.0%) cases were female, Single ulcer was 83(59.3%), multiple ulcer was 51(36.4%) and bleeding ulcer was 5(3.6%).
The most prevalent site of the ulcer was antrum 59(36.4%) cases.
6. Of the 31 cases of gastric cancer, 22(71.0%) cases were male and 9(29.0%) cases were female. The peak incidence was 7th decade (38. 7%). The most prevalent site of the gastric cancer was body(38.7%). The most frequent type of gastric cancer was type Iff in Borrmann´s classification (45. 2%) .
